Beginners' Guide
Welcome to Altitude Prime, a roleplay community set in a dieselpunk, collaboratively built world in the sky! Characters work for an air-freight company, making a name for themselves (and maybe some money on the side) in a rough-and-tumble business. Deals gone bad, pirates, engines springing leaks - there's all sorts of excitement to be had in the air!
Once you've registered, the first thing you'll want to do is go over to the Characters forum, fill out a character sheet, make a thread for yourself in the My Characters forum to keep track of them, and give the new character their own thread in the New Characters forum. A GM will look it over, and give you tips to fit into the world if necessary. When that's done to their satisfaction, your character will have a job interview, in-character, with the company hiring manager to test out your roleplay style. Take this opportunity to flesh your character out a bit through your answers - maybe a flashback or two, or tantalizing us with a detail from their past you strategically steer around.
After they get approved,, your character will be assigned to a plane, and from there, you'll be ready for takeoff! Your GM will be in charge of where it goes and what happens there, but depending on what you do, you'll still have quite a bit of pull on events.
Making a Character
If you've done much RPing, filling out a character sheet should be a snap. But here's a couple quick things to keep in mind:
-All PCs are normal humans - no magical abilities, pointy ears or super powers, just brains and/or brawn.
-Working for Altitude Aerofreight is a dangerous job, requiring a person strong of will and of body. Adults are most definitely preferred; children and young teenagers are out of the question. Also, consider the type of person this line of work would attract - rugged independent types, excitement-seekers, rogues with an eye for fast money... The possibilities are endless!
Setting
You are here! In this forum, you'll find the rules that govern the site, as well as descriptions of the different people, places and companies in the world of Altitude. As more threads get finished and more characters are added, this area will grow as players tack on their own pieces to the world.
Planes
The bulk of your posts will be spent here. Each plane is run by a GM, whose character will be the captain. A limited number of characters allowed to join each plane. The GM will run plots (also known as arcs), taking their characters on deliveries around the world, getting involved in a bit of unsavory business, or maybe just letting off some steam on solid ground. Just go with the plot, and have some fun RPing!
Shore Leave
Not everything has to do with business. Plots in the Shore Leave are run by any GM and can be joined by any approved character - while they're still canon, they're less structured than the plane arcs, giving players a chance to let characters bounce off each other a little more.
Out of Character
Talk about yourself a bit, get to know your fellow handlers. (You do have a life outside of this site, right?)
